Important terms for consistent high performance during milking

On-demand feeding

Performance-adapted feeding of concentrate for efficient milk production adjusted for each individual cow and her performance potential.
The X8 system from System Happel can accommodate four different feed sorts, with portions of 25 g, 50 g and 100 g. Individualised feeding requires the X8 transponder, the X8 feeding station and the corresponding software.

AktivPuls® milking

AktivPuls milking is the innovative solution for successful milking. Following years of development work, the AktivPuls milking unit successfully integrates the vacuum relief system in the elastic teat element. The milking unit can easily be used in any milking system. During daily milking, it is particularly important to consider physiological aspects. Essential factors for ensuring good health of the teats and a high milk yield are quick, livestock-friendly milking and healthy teats. A vacuum relief provided at the teat in the massaging phase improves the condition of the teats significantly. Reduced stress on the tissue positively affects milk yield and the health of the udder.

Active transponder

The X8 active transponder is a 2-in-1 transponder that is suited for cow detection as well as for activity data. It allows for recording the current parameters of the individual cow. It is especially suited for oestrus detection based on the number of movements of a cow over a period of 24 hours. A comparison with the data from the previous day will reveal important information, for example on the time of insemination or on illnesses.

Bulli® claw piece

During the development of the Bulli claw piece, special attention was placed on achieving gentle and quick transport through the claw piece even of maximum milk flows. Milk conducting surfaces gently transport the milk into the interior where it is conveyed via a guide fin into the generously dimensioned discharge area. These optimal flow conditions allow for milk yields of up to 14 litres/minute without problems for stable vacuum conditions. The claw piece offers a good grip and is convenient to operate.

CleanLine automatic cleaning unit

The CleanLine automatic cleaning unit is the optimal solution for achieving perfect cleaning results. With the wide range of possible settings that the automatic cleaning unit offers, the cleaning system can easily be adapted to the operational requirements. The CleanLine automatic cleaning unit is also available as CleanLine BIG design with a 90 litre tank for cleaning large milking systems.

ClicLift service arm

The ClicLift service arm prevents twisting of the milking unit and ensures even distribution of the milking unit weight. The ClicLift service arm has an optimised automatic detachment system and is correctly positioned in a few seconds.

Comfort-Entry System

A continuous and smooth access to the milking parlour is the most important prerequisite for achieving a high milking output in the carousel. The ComfortEntry system makes it very inviting for the cow to enter the milking parlour. The positioning bracket opens far in the entry area to ensure stress-free access to the milking stall. The ComfortEntry system makes the work process in the milking carousel easier for both cows and milkers.

Comfort-Flow C1 milking carousel

The milking carousel C1 ComfortFlow features optimal automation while ensuring high operating comfort for the milker. All requirements for ensuring a professional milking management and maximum milking capacity are fulfilled. The C1 ComfortFlow is available in the sizes from 12-60 milking stalls with automatic detection system, selection, milk quantity recording, Robotex automatic milker and individual stall feeding.

Comfort milking start

With the new Robotex Comfort milking start, attachment is as easy as child's play and the milking unit almost weightless. The unit is conveniently activated via a control lever.

Comfortplus cock

With the Comfortplus cock, all connections are coupled with a flick of the wrist. The Comfortplus can effortlessly be mounted to the milk conduit. Older pipeline milking systems can easily be retrofitted with the vacuum and pressure hose connections. The Comfortplus is available for the following milk pipe diameters: D52, D40, D70 mm.

End units

The end units from System Happel are manufactured of superior quality high-gloss polished stainless steel. The large safety separator is cleaned automatically, guaranteeing reliable cleanness. The milk pump with stainless steel housing and stainless steel rotor comes up to the highest demands. A ceramic seal guarantees safe function over a long service life. An electronic float control with timer reliably regulates even pumping of the milk.

Herringbone milking parlour

Flexible space-saving arrangement for larger herds. It is available in two variants:
a) Central entry and exit
b) Quick exit for all cows simultaneously, e. g. Maximus

Herringbone milking parlour 45°

The herringbone milking parlour 45° is the alternative for optimal utilisation of space. The steep herringbone offers the advantage that, for the same number of milking stalls, a shorter milker pit than for the standard herringbone design is required. The milking unit can be operated from the side and from the back. The steep herringbone is available for designs from 1x3 to 2x24 milking stalls.

Herd management

This term combines different parameters for each individual cow to achieve an overall economic efficiency of the system. Important components of the herd management:

  • Accurate milk quantity recording
  • Automatic on-demand feeding
  • Automatic monitoring of cow activity

These control functions are reliably managed by the easy-to-operate X8 program. Further parameters can be added and processed at any time.

Jetliner® elastic teat element

The innovation for perfect milk flow thanks to a ventilation duct provided at the elastic teat element shaft and head nozzle.
The Jetliner elastic teat element is vented by a nozzle provided at the head side. The head nozzle prevents a constant head vacuum in the elastic teat element. The nozzle has been integrated into the cleaning process and is thus maintenance-free. The Jetliner elastic teat element includes an integrated vent duct that ensures that the milk is transported in direction of flow. The Jetliner elastic teat element is an additional feature to improve the S90 milking unit even further.

Jetpuls®

A System Happel development that prevents accumulation of milk in the milking cup and that facilitates effortless milk transport even for high-yield cows by pulsed introduction of air. System Happel S90 milking units can be retrofitted with this system.

Lactivator Transponder

The Lactivator is a 2-in-1 transponder, which means that it includes a signal for animal detection and a new-generation activity measurement. The innovative 2-hour measurement ensures 90% oestrus detection. This high accuracy can be achieved thanks to the sophisticated program evaluation combined with a comparison of the cow's activity during the same period on the previous day. The Lactivator is available as neck transponder and as foot transponder.

Conductivity sensor for MM8 milk quantity measurement

An additional plus in the monitoring of udder health of a dairy cattle herd.
Upon request, the new MM8 milk quantity measurement is equipped with a conductivity sensor that delivers important information on milk quality and udder health of the animals. The evaluation is performed in the VC5 management program; the measurement values are compared for each individual animal and any deviations are displayed already in the milking parlour. For easy cleaning, the sensor is housed in the measuring chamber of the measuring instrument.

Mastitis

Complex clinical pattern in the udder area that can lead to serious diseases. Even in its less severe forms, it leads to an increased cell count and thus to reduced profit from milk income. One of its many possible causes is a hardening of the teats and the associated impaired function of the streak canal, which has the function of a natural antibacterial barrier. One option for maintaining the function of the streak canal in the long term is the use of the VE milking system.

Maximus quick exit

The Maximus milking parlour includes all benefits of the 2" Premium herringbone milking parlour with the additional benefit of allowing for increased speed when changing groups of cows.
After the milking process, the front partition swivels completely up pneumatically thus releasing the entire row. Compared to the conventional herringbone milking parlour, the Maximus quick exit reduces rotation cycles by approx. 40%. Depending on the size of the milking parlour, this results in a 4-10% time saving of the total milking time.

Milk quantity recording

For monitoring the milk performance, it is purposeful and economically necessary to record the milk quantity of each individual cow. This is ensured by the MM8 control unit and the matching MM8 controller.
The X8 central detection guarantees reliable and automatic animal detection. Control lamps signalise any deviations in milk production.

MPC 2 milking parlour control

In addition to the milk quantity display, the MPC 2 milk parlour control comprises clear signal lamps and entry options as well as quick retrieval of individual data. The control unit transmits all data to the PC. All important data on cow calendar, feeding, milk production or disease code can be retrieved at each milking stall by pressing a key. Control lamps signalise any deviations in milk production or udder health.

Pulsator tester MT52

The MilkoTest MT52 is a device for checking vacuum pumps, milking systems and pulsators.
The rugged, but nevertheless light housing and its pressure cells are resistant to water and ammonia and allow for very easy and reliable handling. In addition, an infrared interface permits easy control of the printer.
The following measurement functions can be implemented with the MT52:
Air flow measurement, DIN ISO protocol, pulsation and fluctuation measurement, pressure gauge, milking time measurement, temperature measurement and speedometer.

Robotex®

The trend towards larger herds is associated with a significantly higher work load for the milker. With the Robotex, milking phases can be carried out conveniently and without stress. All that is necessary is to check the teats and attach the milking cup. The Robotex can autonomously control the stimulation, the milking phase and the milk-out phase. Over-milking is impossible (the limit value for detaching the unit can be adjusted). Milk quantity flow control and the special milk-out program automatically ensure individualised adaptation to the individual animal.

Side-by-side milking parlour

The modern variant that ensures short distances for the milker. In the side-by-side milking parlour, the cow is milked from the back. The space between the cows is only 75 cm. Distances for the milker are thus extremely short. When the animals are let out, the front partition swivels up. The side-by-side milking parlour is available in the sizes from 1x3 to 2x4 milking stalls, upon request with stainless steel dung chute and indexing.

Signal timer

The signal display for attaching the milking unit exactly at the time when the milk ejects.
Scientific tests have proven that the time when the milking unit is attached during milking preparation is of decisive significance for the degree of emptying of the udder. Milk ejection starts approx. 50-80 sec. after first touching of the teats. Especially the milking routine in group milking parlours can be crucial for the quality of the milking process. The SignalTimer is a cost-efficient and effective tool for signalising the right time by a bright lamp signal. Clear lamp signals indicate the current state, times can be programmed for all purposes of use.

Streak canal

A healthy streak canal is one of the prerequisites for obtaining a healthy milk and a good udder health with a low cell count. This is largely ensured by soft teats with a good blood supply. For this, the VE milking system employs the 25% relief from the constant vacuum and simultaneous active back-massage. This is a typical feature of System Happel. Constant high outputs can thus be achieved.

Swing-over milking parlour

The swing-over milking parlour is cost-efficient as only one side is equipped with milking units. It is also available with the MM8 milk quantity measurement. The swing-over milking parlour is available with and without milking unit detachment.

Tandem milking parlour

Well-arranged milking parlour offering a very high milking capacity as each cow only stays in the milking parlour for the time needed according to her own individual requirement. As a result, less milking units are required and the system is therefore especially economical.

Animal detection

An important prerequisite for larger herds is the automatic animal detection by the transponder and the corresponding antenna. Milk quantity measurements, individual on-demand feeding and cow activities for each individual animal can thus be monitored highly accurately.

VE® milking technology

A special process during milking to achieve consistent high milk outputs while maintaining optimal udder health. Young cows readily accept this system, conversions from other milking processes are very easily possible without problems.

Typical experience: The consistent milk output of the herd is significantly improved, the milk-out degree (milk with a higher fat percentage) is increased. This process is based on the principle that no vacuum is present at the teat during the relief phase, making an active back-massage particularly effective. The soft teat tips are characteristic of this process, which are one of the prerequisites for maintaining the functions in the streak canal. This process allows for significantly increasing the lactation cycles of the individual animals and thus maintaining a very good overall health of the herd.
